About That Lack of Symptoms...

Not so much a problem any more.

I woke up yesterday with a major case of morning sickness that lasted until falling asleep last night, and within an hour or so of getting up this morning, it was back again. There have been several times I thought I might actually throw up, but so far I haven't. I've had morning sickness with other pregnancies, but it's been more mild - never to the point of almost throwing up.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining. I'll deal with it if it means all of this turns out okay.

I'm open to suggestions on what's worked to help minimize it. R is at the store shopping for ginger ale, gingersnaps, chicken noodle soup, pretzels, and an acupressure wrist band.

Right now I'm munching on saltines and 7 Up. I feel okay as long as I'm eating, but a few minutes after I stop, the nausea sets in again. And I figure eating my way through it for 16 hours straight is probably not going to be the best approach, at least not from a weight gain perspective...

There were also a lot of strechy/pulling feelings yesterday. Normally I feel them but they don't bother me per se, but yesterday it was enough that I was contemplating taking some tylenol. I think my pain threshold was just unusually low because I was already feeling not great from the nausea.

Overall, I'm thankful for the symptoms. I just keep trying to remind myself that having symptoms now does not necessarily equal the outcome we hope for down the road. It's still waaaaayy too soon to get our hopes up...

So glad to hear you're sick ; ) For what it's worth, I was told to take extra B6 for morning sickness. Hope you're feeling *just a tad* better soon!

Hooray for morning sickness! I mean, I think you know what we all mean...I think the gingersnaps sound like a good idea. And don't worry about weight gain, for goodness sake, if you have to snack on saltines and gingersnaps and sprite for a few weeks well, SO BE IT! Just take care of yourself!

Well, it may not say anything about the eventual outcome of this pg, but it's definitely not a bad sign so yay for that :)

Excellent!! I know it's never going to be easy to feel that things are totally ok but these are good signs and I hope they let you breathe easier for a bit. So glad you had a good US - very happy to hear that :-). Am right behind you all the way - cheering and clapping at the good news but totally understanding your need for caution. Hugs.

That's great! It sucks, but its great! actually, if you research, MS is a great symptom b/c it actually does oddly correlate with a reduced miscarriage rate. That being said, it is AWFUL. What worked for me was a lot of homemade lemonade (fresh lemons and all) and b6. If you call your nurse at ccrm they will give you the dosage of b6 to take, it is a small amount, but it works! It doesn't make you perfect, but for me it took the edge off so I could at least function a little more. With DD I threw up all the time...lying on the bathroom floor, curled up kind of MS...with these two, just the nausea with vomiting only once or twice...but with both lemonade and b6 worked! yay!!!!

Oh and I tried the preggie pops and they didn't work as well as sour jolly ranchers! not sure why...

sucking on peppermint helped with me. Otherwise is was nibbling on oyster crackers, same consistency as saltines, but smaller and fewer calories did the job.

I'm glad you're having symptoms....it's a strange sort of reassurance for now!!!

Hey there- I *think* this may be my first comment, but I've been following for a while :) First, congrats on baby! It is early and with your history you have every right to be scared/nervous/distrustful, etc but positive thoughts can be very powerful- that sounds so "new age" but hey you never know! Second, yay ms, even though it sucks! I never actually threw-up, just felt sick to my stomach all day from week 7-14. No fun! I found what worked for me was to not let my stomach get empty. So yeah, you may have to snack constantly for a while. Oyster crackers are great for that. Unfortunately being constantly full also sucked, but it was better than throwing up in my book! I remember waking up one day around 14 weeks and actually being hungry for the first time in weeks because I didn't feel sick- it was great :) Thinking of you and wishing you the best!
